چکیده

ABSTRACT Low-temperature storage is one of the most effective techniques to maintain quality and durability cut flowers. Both maintenance are dependent on plant metabolism factors such as antioxidant system. The objective was evaluate effect low-temperature precooling after harvest, calla lily [Zantedeschia aethiopica (L.) K. Spreng] concerning system, levels hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), malondialdehyde (MDA). Therefore, different temperatures (4 ºC 21 ºC) were tested well in periods (0 24 hours). It observed that activity catalase (CAT) superoxide dismutase (SOD) increased at 4 °C, inflorescence commercial standard (around 12 days). At content H2O2 MDA higher visual reduction accelerated. leads a enzymes system (CAT SOD) increases postharvest longevity for lily. Precooling did not influence Long-term exposure low temperatures, with hours caused stress, evidenced CAT activity. SOD related temperature shorter resulted better lower levels.

Effect of postharvest oxalic acid treatment on ethylene production, quality parameters, and antioxidant potential of peach fruit during cold storage.

The effects of postharvest oxalic acid (OA) treatment on ethylene production, fruit quality, bioactive compounds and antioxidant activity of peach fruit, were examined. Fruits were treated with oxalic acid immediately after harvest and stored at 1° C and 90% relative humidity for 28 days. The oxalic acid treated peach fruit exhibited significantly lower levels of ethylene production, pH, total ...

Postharvest GABA Application Effects on Some Biochemical Characteristics of Anthurium Cut Flowers under Cold Storage Conditions

Chilling damage under 15ºC in anthurium cut flowers reduces the vase-life, quality and marketability of the product. In the present experiment, GABA postharvest treatment (0, 1 and 5 mM) was studied on the vase-life, total soluble solid (TSS), H2O2 content, proline content, spathe browning, catalase and superoxide dismutase enzymes activity of Anthurium andraeanum...

Effect of Chitosan Coating on the Postharvest Quality and Antioxidant Enzyme System Response of Strawberry Fruit during Cold Storage

The effectiveness of chitosan fruit coating to delay the qualitative and nutraceutical traits of three strawberry cultivars, namely "Candonga", "Jonica" and "Sabrina", as well as the effects of chitosan on antioxidant enzymes were evaluated. The fruits were coated with 1% and 2% chitosan solution and stored at 2 °C for nine days. Samples were taken every three days. Physico-chemical (weight los...

Micropropagation of calla lily (Zantedeschia rehmannii)

The aim of this study was to develop methods for the in vitro propagation of Zantedeschia rehmannii. Zantedeschia rehmannii tuber fragments (1 cm2) containing eyes were soaked for 30 s in a solution containing 100 mg dm-3 L-ascorbic acid (AA) before transfer to culture vessels containing an MS medium supplemented with BAP (0 to 3 mg dm-3). Cultures were maintained in darkness. Soaking explants ...

Changes in Physicochemical Properties of Wild and Cultivated Blackberry during Postharvest Cold Storage

Background: Blackberry is a seasonal harvested fruit that is also very fragile and perishes quickly. A comparative study was conducted to find out influence of cold storage on physicochemical parameters of wild and cultivated blackberry over a period of 12 days. Methods: The plant materials were composed of the blackberry fruit, including a compound of cultivated blackberry (Rubus spp.), and w...
